"The prints we bought from you each have their own special place in our home. The colors in Generations receive many favorable comments as it highlights a corner near our front door.   As Generations' flowers portray growth, life cycles and the "family spirit", the spirit our home is enhanced with many growing things, each with its unique cycle of life."

What is a Giclée print?

Giclée (ZHēˈklā) printmaking comprises a number of breakthrough digital, media and pigment-based ink technologies for reproducing fine art. The image quality is so high, the color and detail, the look and feel of each reproduction are nearly identical to the artist's original, even to the artist! Accepted by museums, galleries and fine art collectors around the world, owning a giclée canvas print is the next best thing to owning the original.

What makes it archival?

Giclée technologies afford extreme longevity. According to independent testing laboratories, you can expect your giclée art prints to last for generations. This digital printing process uses brilliantly colored, stable, UV-resistant, pigmented inks and archival quality canvas and coatings.

Framing & Presentation

Gallery wrapped canvases are often hung directly on the wall without framing to provide a contemporary look. If you decide to frame the artwork, I highly recommend using a floater frame. This type of frame is designed to cradle deep canvases with a recessed gap around the print. This allows the canvas to “float” in the frame which offsets the artwork beautifully. Floater frames comes in a variety of finishes, including gold, silver, black, white, or in any type of hardwood and stain finish. It is not necessary to frame giclée canvas prints under glass.

Where NOT to hang the print:

To keep the colors in your giclée vibrant for many years, avoid displaying your print in direct sunlight or under fluorescent lighting, both of which emit UV radiation. The best option is to hang on a wall with indirect lighting and if additional lighting is needed, LED or halogen lamps are best. Another option is to install solar window films that block UV light. These films are available in clear, frosted, tinted and transparent formats. When hanging artwork above a heat source such as fireplace, make sure to provide adequate clearance so the giclée is not exposed to excessive heat. Similarly, avoid overly moist environments where steam or water are likely to condense on the giclée surface.

How to clean your giclée?

Cleaning is best performed using a clean thick-pile microfiber dusting cloth reserved specifically for this purpose. To remove more persistent grime, a soft microfiber cloth or Q-tip dampened very slightly with pure water can also be used very gently, exerting only the slightest of pressure. NEVER use solvents or cleaning agents. Avoid using your hands to wipe off any dust as this can scratch the surface and/or add oils. If your giclée has marks or stains that cannot be removed by these cleaning techniques, get expert advice from a fine art restorer or conservator.

Copyright
Copyright of your giclée canvas print is retained by the artist and any reproductions are legally prohibited without permission of the artist. The exception to this is social media or other social sharing. It’s fun to show off your new art and this is a good place to do it. Giving the artist credit in your posts is greatly appreciated!
