A Colorful Grand Opening: My Artwork at Sonoma Federal Credit Union

I was honored to be part of the grand opening celebration for Sonoma Federal Credit Union’s new location at 917 College Avenue. I was attending as a featured artist, and it was especially meaningful to see several of my Sonoma-inspired paintings displayed in their beautifully renovated and vibrant new space.

As I walked through the building, I felt inspired and grateful—not only as an artist, but as a member of the Sonoma County community. This new home for the credit union is more than a building; it represents decades of service, growth, and a deep-rooted commitment to the people it serves.

Let me walk you through a bit of SFCU's journey to date:

• 1961 – The story begins in the basement of Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital; the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital Employees Federal Credit Union was born to serve hardworking hospital staff.

• 2003 – Services expand to all of Sonoma County and so does the name as Sonoma Federal Credit Union is established.

• 2022 – A permanent home for the credit union was secured at 917 College Avenue, alongside a thoughtful rebranding that visually captures the spirit of Sonoma County.

• May 16^th, 2025 – After extensive renovations, the first fully owned branch is officially opened with staff, board members, and local officials in attendance.
