Acrylic painting of an Eastern Swallowtail butterfly hovering above a Cherokee Rose

Cherokee Rose & Eastern Swallowtail - Original

I first came across the Cherokee Rose when I visited Georgia in 2011. It is their state flower, and it grows as a large bush. Our visit to the Atlanta botanical garden was magical as I spotted the state butterfly, the "Eastern Swallowtail" pollinating the state flower! It was a joy to see the synergy of nature providing nourishment for the pollinators while benefitting the plant at the same time.
