Fleur Sauvages - 9 panel original

This series of triptychs are close up studies of fire-adapted wildflowers. I rendered them using white to represent their ephemeral nature, and used colored backgrounds suggestive of their native meadow and woodland habitats. Many fire-adapted species germinate from tubers or bulbs, while others have seeds that require heat or chemical triggers (i.e. changes in soil pH) to germinate.
