Midsummer Night I - Original

This lush composition features graceful lotus flowers and leaves illuminated from the moon.  Also a popular theme in Chinese art, the lotus flower thrives in the midst of adverse conditions to symbolize abundance. Another prominent theme in this work is water; representing renewal and reflection. A dragonfly, representing both swiftness and restlessness, has come to rest on a lotus blossom, which symbolizes serenity, purity and perfection.
