Uplifting Paintings of Nature
I paint vibrant uplifting compositions of California flora and fauna because I am inspired by the beauty in nature that is often overlooked. I hope to evoke a sense of intimacy and childlike wonder through magical compositions featuring low vantage points and close-up detail. Wildflowers are a powerful inspiration to my work, as they represent hope, diversity, and tenacity in the face of challenges–a theme which I hope inspires you too.

How long does it take?
On average, pieces take 2-3 months to create. Having a conversation with me and discussing your ideas for the composition is the first step.
How much does it cost?
The best way to determine the cost is to email me to set up a consultation. Prices will vary due to size, materials, and complexity of the project. I have a pricing formula that I use to determine a quote once I know exactly what you want. Before I begin work, I will typically provide you with a sketch based on our conversation along with a firm price and timeframe. A 50% deposit is required to begin work, with the balance due upon completion of the artwork. This deposit is non-refundable once the project has begun. This ensures that materials and hours are covered.

MEET THE ARTIST
Lucy Liew is a Malaysian-American artist notable for her vibrant paintings of California nature. Born and raised on the island of Borneo, she was encouraged to draw by her father, an avid photographer and amateur ethnographer. Later, she would accompany him on photographic excursions deep into the rich Bornean rainforests, where she developed her penchant for lighting, composition and capturing the beauty of nature. Her uplifting paintings are characterized by a vivid color palette and captivating symbolism, paired with a wide range of brush strokes and fine details.
Lucy’s artwork has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions including Marin MOCA, Stanford University, and the San Jose Museum of Art. Her nature paintings can also be found in the permanent collection of many hospitals: Kaiser Permanente in Santa Rosa, Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital, and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, among others. She currently lives in Santa Rosa and is part of the vibrant Fulton Crossing artist community.
