Poppy Meadow
This painting captures the waves of texture and motion of a lush meadow in Annadel State Park. A splash of California golden poppies add a burst of warmth to the foreground. Doesn't it make you want to jump in to the image and explore? Eschscholzia californica has been California's official state flower since 1903 and can be found throughout the state.
"California poppies ... are of a burning color—not orange, not gold, but if pure gold were liquid and could raise a cream, that golden cream might be like the color of poppies." --- John Steinbeck in East of Eden (1952)
