I titled this piece “Rise Up” because it depicts a group of fire poppies rising freely from the ghostly remains of a charred barbed wire fence. The fence is symbolic of anything that may be holding us back or causing us to feel trapped, whether that is overcoming a loss or a health challenge. It is also a reminder that we can rise above the most difficult situations with the support of those who love us. Wildflowers are a vibrant reminder of God’s promise in Matthew 6:30: “…If God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you.”
